A Little About Me
Hey, I’m Nick.
I’m a husband, dad, lifelong skateboarder, and someone who has always wanted to see more of the world than the little piece I spend most of my time in.
Like most people, I have a full-time job, a family, responsibilities, and a seemingly endless list of things that need to get done. It’s easy to fall into the same routine every week and realize that months have gone by without doing much of anything different.
Board in the World is my attempt to change that.
How It Started
Board in the World originally started as a way to document my travels and skateboarding adventures.
Skateboarding has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m not particularly good at it, but I’ve always loved it. It’s also influenced the way I see the world, the places I’m interested in visiting, and the things I enjoy doing.
Over time, the channel evolved into something more focused on travel. From exploring Japan with my family to visiting places around Europe and closer to home, I’ve enjoyed documenting our experiences and sharing what we discover along the way.
But there’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years that I keep putting off.
Getting Outside More
I love the outdoors. At least, I love the idea of spending more time outdoors.
I’ve accumulated camping equipment, fishing gear, and enough outdoor stuff to make you think I spend every weekend in the wilderness.
The reality? Most of it sits in my garage.
I’ve spent more time researching equipment, watching YouTube videos, and planning potential trips than actually going on them.
I’m changing that.
Rather than starting an entirely separate adventure, I’m expanding Board in the World to include more camping, hiking, fishing, road trips, and whatever else gets me out of the house.
I’m not an outdoor survival expert, professional skateboarder, or seasoned world traveler. I’m just a regular guy who wants to spend more time doing the things I’ve always wanted to do.
And hopefully, encourage a few other people to do the same.
What You’ll Find Here
Board in the World is a mix of travel, skateboarding, outdoor adventures, and the experiences that come with them.
Sometimes that’s exploring neighborhoods in Tokyo, figuring out whether an attraction is worth the money, or taking a family trip somewhere new.
Other times, it might be loading up the truck for a weekend of camping, trying to catch a fish, or finding somewhere new to skateboard.
I’ll share what we experience, what works, what doesn’t, and what I’d do differently. I also want this website to become a useful resource for anyone planning similar trips or looking to try something new.
No pretending everything is amazing. No acting like I’m an expert at things I’m still figuring out.
Just getting out there and seeing what happens.
Follow Along
If any of this sounds interesting, I’d love for you to follow along.
You can find my videos on YouTube — Board in the World, where I document our travels, adventures, and everything in between.
Thanks for stopping by.
